But what turned out to be was much more sensible. A Ramayana, told so purely that it brings the modern world with the touch to old and divine virtues.

    The book taking us to a journey with Rama's exile teaches us different values from reaction of different characters. Through Rama it shows how to handle the sudden changes in life with a smile on a face and confidence in mind, through Laxmana it teaches us that serving the king and the elderly is lot more important than a fight for the throne.

   Shubha Vilas, a spiritual seeker and a motivational speaker, holds a degree in engineering and law with specialization in Patent Law. He periodically interacts with the youth in the premier institutes across the country, inspiring them to live a life based on deeper human values. He believes that a good teacher, no matter how knowledgeable, always sees the process of learning as an inherent aspect of personal and spiritual growth.

Storyline

  As a child everyone saw ‘Ramayana’ as just another thrilling show on DD with a hero, a villain interesting fights, love stories, soulful music and original looking graphics(That sun like things from the tip when two arrows collided). And no doubt it was great fun. Parents in turn enlightened us with the meaning and moral to be taken from every episode. While everyone were busy interpreting the big picture, many failed to decrypt the inner meaning of each and every aspect of the holy Ramayana.

   In ‘Ramayana, the shattered dreams’ Shubha Vilas gives a whole new perspective to understand the epic. The inner meanings, insights of the characters, valuable footnotes and the enjoyment of reading Ramayana.

  The books starts from where it was paused in the previous book, the wedding of the valuable gem of Ayodhya, Ram and takes the readers through various important aspects in Lord Rama’s life from his coronation, his willingness to carry out his father’s orders and live in the forest to Bharata getting knowledge of his mothers evil action. There are hardly any pages in the book without valuable inputs by the author including moral from the chapter, inner and deeper interpretation of the reference, virtues to be learnt from the character’s action and small good things to be practiced in everyday life. 

Do I Recommend

  Before reading the book, all I knew was that my name was a synonym of Lord Shiva, but it is in this book I found out the true meaning of my name, ‘The One Easily Pleased’ and yes I am pleased. And a book full of beautiful messages and the story of the charismatic Prince Rama is bound to make your bookshelf’s value go high. A must read.
